Prologue

The girl wondered if she could choose what to perceive, what to hear and understand. She wondered if she could build a wall of ignorance to keep away all the things that woke her up and opened her eyes, like all the others did. But every day she destroyed this wall little by little with bits of knowledge. It pleased her to do that. Was innocence part of ignorance? Because she sometimes suffered from knowing. Her heart was filled with curiosity, that kept her happily alive and eager to find the answers to her questions. Her mind contradicted her heart and only held onto certain facts. In a way, it protected her from knowing things she shouldn’t, adding bricks to the wall of ignorance. But this kind of protection harmed her. Because if there wasn’t doubt to get rid of, curiosity would leave her heart and she’d go back to sleep with all of the others. Taking part in a dream in black and white, becoming another one among the crowd, only another little shiny star in the big universe. So the girl went to look for distinction.
She walked into the darkness, felt the fresh air on her face. A canopy of trees above her, the shadowy ground cracked with dry leaves beneath her feet. The girl smiled because of feeling safe in the unknown. She kept on moving and heard the sounds of the night. The woods closed up behind her, letting her only to see what was ahead: a faint light in the distance. Destiny approaching to a brave, young heart. All of the thoughts that had been screaming inside her stopped as she walked and felt the immensity of the wild life around. Looking up, she could see part of the thick and starless night sky behind the branches and leaves that hung from the trunks of trees, moonbeams lighting up her face.
Claire was a girl who knew nothing about herself because she didn’t remember about her past. She had lived in the endless woods until she found the people who would show her what the world was about. Although a supernatural one, in which she would find all of the occult secrets of her own.
