The attacks that struck the United States are the most serious terrorist act in the history of mankind. Besides, it has been the most ravaging aggression perpetrated against American territory in the nation's history. But beyond the historical aspect, culture is a key issue. it is very difficult for the Western thinking to face a terrorist conflict of such a different logic as the Muslim.

When democracies faced Nazism and Communism, conflicts were determined by different ideologies but the rational culture of the West was based on common ground. But now there is a cultural clash rather than one of ideologies.

Therefore, the American retaliation should above all consider they are facing a different logic that may derive in unprecedented consequences.
