Born in Switzerland in 1924, Robert Frank moved to America in his Twenties and leapt into prominence a decade later with the publication of The Americans, a portrait of the five and dimes, truck stops, bars, and street corners of America. This book includes selections from The Americans as well as from his earliest work in Switzerland, his films, and his most recent Polaroids, taken at his retreat in Nova Scotia.
Many of the photos gathered here have never before been published.
